My Social Strand by Be The Match e1331493320976 Make Infographic Of Your Facebook Profile With My Social StrandIn past couple of years social media has evolved in to a change agent. Social networking giants like Facebook plays a primary role when it comes to bringing change, though it’s not the only medium by which people can bring change but its huge userbase makes it one of the most ideal place to raise an issue or grab attention for a social cause. We have examples like Egyptian revolution which started from a Facebook page and Arrest Kony campaign which recently become viral on all social networking websites. It’s easy to grab mass attention on websites like Facebook, Twitter and YouTube rather than communicating everything individually.

NGOs and independently working groups which are working for a social cause majorly use Facebook to highlight some important on going issues. With a huge userbase of over 850 million Facebook is the ideal place to pitch people. Be The Match Foundation is also using Facebook for a great cause.
Be The Match Foundation® raises funds to help patients who need a bone marrow or umbilical cord blood transplant find a donor and receive treatment.
Recently this foundation created a web app by the name of My Social Strand which makes an interesting inforgraphic about you through your Facebook profile. This web app first asks your permission to access your Facebook News Feed data and after that it takes you through some interesting questions about your personality. In the end you will get an insanely great infographic based on your Facebook profile and the questions you answered on My Social Strand.
I got to know that 6 of my Facebook friends will likely be affected by leukemia during their lifetime. There’s a 76% chance that I would make it through a ZOMBIEPOCOLYPSE based on the fact that I have a lot of friends on Facebook and I’m “youthful”. It also tells you about the most active person on your Facebook News Feed and the person who is always there for you “virtually”. My Social Strand gives a great overview of your friends’ relationship status as well.
Be The Match is hoping to increase their bone marrow donor database by this web app and we would also encourage you to become one of the donors who are bringing the change.
Our hope is that in just a couple minutes of engagement, people will want to get involved, we think this is a simple, quick way to get people involved without getting into the heavy science
